The Tagus Estuary provides food and shelter for several bird species that are part of this great realm with diverse ecosystems. Because most of the territory depends greatly on the Ocean tides, it provides huge mudflats thus feeding grounds for most of the Aquatic Birds.
Spoonbills
Medium and big-sized wader birds or shorebirds, feed and breed on marsh and wet meadows across Eurasia. Huge wader bird flocks can be found in Southern and Western Europe during winter, and the wetlands are specially important for several species.
